Planning A Car Camping Trip
Car camping allows for families to vacation at their own pace and have the freedom to choose their destination on their own terms. Proper planning is the major factor to having a successful camping vacation. One of the advantages of camping is there are pretty much a campground in every county in every state whether its a private, county, or state campground. For the most part, campgrounds are more available than restrooms are on the interstates. With the many destinations that are available half the fun is just planning the trip.
When choosing what type of trip and entertainment you would like, consider the four seasons. Spring is more for wildlife and blooming flowers as well as amusement parks, while summer is more suited for water parks and beaches. When deciding on your camping trip, think about what the camping trips purpose is. Private campgrounds seem to have more family oriented amenities such as pools and movie nights, whereas state and county campgrounds are more outdoor activities, hiking, boating, and fishing. When considering a campground keep these things in mind, campground style, expected weather, distance from town and campground amenities. The skills you possess will play an important role in the type campground you should choose.
A wonderful camping experience has several factors involved, some you can control and others you cannot. The weather is out of your control, yet you can keep updated on it and adjust with a little advanced planning. For the most part with enough advanced reservation time the ideal location for your campsite is easy to achieve. If you are planning on visiting a campground for the first time and booking it on the internet usually the site map on the internet of the campground is not always accurate and does not show the landscape. Call the campground and ask them to mail you a brochure and to tell you a little about the sites. However, one must remember to make several choices, due to unexpected bad weather or other unexpected circumstances that may arise.
When planning the route to your camping destination, consider what type of entertaining sites may be along the way. If your final destination is a good distance from home, an overnight stay at a campground can be a pleasant break for the kids. If you choose to do this, choose a campground that has some afternoon amenities, this way the kids have a good way to burn off some energy. If possible choose a different route for the return trip home. This will add to the excitement by giving everyone something to look forward to instead of just getting home.
No matter how your kids act on their first camping trip, trust me they will remember these camping trips with appreciation latter in life.
